FAQ

What is the use of your product?

 This product is called OrigoTracker Argus. It is use for monitoring the real-time status of one or multiple equipment, and saving historical status records for future queries.

How does your product retrieve data from equipment?

 If your equipment’s PLC communication protocol is supported by us, you can simply connect an Ethernet cable to the PLC via the local area network (LAN) to retrieve data from it. If your equipment does not have a PLC, we can also collect data manually through operators entering and submitting data on a PAD. If your equipment uses a private protocol or a PLC protocol not yet supported by our product, please contact our customer service.

My PLC does not have an Ethernet port, but I still want to use your product for data collection. What should I do?

 You will need to contact your PLC engineer. Generally, there are three solutions:

  1. If the PLC supports it, simply add a network module.
  2. If the PLC does not support it, just add a converter to switch from a serial port to an Ethernet port.
  3. Replace the PLC.

How many communication protocols/PLCs does your product support?

 We support Siemens S7, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, Mitsubishi MELSEC, Omron, etc. We are currently developing support for Delta, Inovance, Fatek, Xinje, and others. We already have a development framework that enables rapid implementation of new communication protocols. Please contact customer service to confirm the latest list of supported protocols.

What conditions must my factory meet to use your product?

 Only two prerequisites are required:

  1. The PLC and OrigoTracker are plugged into the same LAN.
  2. The PLC data tags are accessible, and the tag addresses are known.

I need to take photos for my products, does your product support image collection?

 Not by default, but it can be achieved through customization. Please contact our customer service for specific requirements.

Does your product support private protocols?

 Not by default, but it can be achieved through customization. Please contact our customer service and provide details of the private protocol.

I have data collection needs that are not in the PLC, such as manual visual inspection of product appearance. What should I do?

 We provide industrial pad for such scenarios. You only need to define the data collection process in the back-end system, and ensure the pad and OrigoTracker are on the same LAN with Wi-Fi available. No custom development, nor coding is required, and multiple processes can be supported.

My factory manufactures industrial equipment, and my customers often request me to provide production data, which is stored in the PLC installed on my equipment. Which product is suitable for me?

 This depends on your needs:

  1. If you only want to add traceability/monitoring features to your equipment to enhance product competitiveness, we recommend the standalone version of OrigoTracker, just connect the Ethernet cable and configure it for use, no extra coding is required.
  2. If you need remote monitoring and alerting for the equipment you manufacture or wish to provide additional services to your customers, please contact our customer service. We offer cloud-based customized solutions.

I have multiple workshops, each requiring monitoring of many data points. Can your product handle this?

 You can use the enterprise version of our Monitoring product. The principle is to deploy one on-site Monitoring unit per workshop, which collects and aggregates data to a central Monitoring server. This distributes the data collection load, reducing pressure on each unit. Data is stored both locally and on the server. If specific equipment requires high-frequency data collection, a dedicated on-site unit can be assigned to handle it separately, further reducing system pressure.

How many data points can OrigoTracker support concurrently?

 This depends on the required collection frequency. Our stress tests show support for about 400 points per second at a 1-second interval, and about 5 points at a 20-millisecond interval. Through conversion, a scenario with a 1-minute interval can support approximately 20,000 points. Note that many factors can affect the number of points, such as network traffic conditions and the PLC’s response speed. If you can provide specific scenario details, our customer service can offer a free analysis and recommendations.

Can production data be viewed remotely on a mobile phone?

 Yes, but this usually requires customization. Mobile users typically want to see summarized data rather than simple equipment status lists. Since different companies have varying needs, it’s challenging to create a universal product to satisfy all users. Customization is generally required. Please contact our customer service for further discussion.

What is your delivery timeline?

 For standard products, delivery depends on inventory. If in stock, shipment is usually on the same day. If out of stock, delivery typically takes up to two weeks. For customized products, the timeline depends on user requirements, generally ranging from two weeks to two months.

How do you handle information security?

 Our product is based on the Linux security system. The root password is not disclosed, making it difficult to crack. For network security, customers are responsible for configuring LAN security measures, such as firewalls and antivirus protection by themselves.

How does your product differ from KEP Server?

 Comparison as follows: KEP Server is primarily for reading data, while our product integrates data reading, storage, search, traceability, trend charts, and more. KEP Server is purely software, requiring installation and sometimes IT support. Our product is hardware-based, plug-and-deploy, with no installation needed. If you have already purchased KEP Server, our product can seamlessly integrate with it, including automatically retrieving tag configurations and directly reading tag values via KEP Server.

My production data is critical and I cannot afford to lose them, what solutions do you offer?

 Please contact our customer service. We can provide customized data backup solutions for your factory.
